In previous articles, we've tried some techniques involving psychic exploration and lucid dreaming. In my opinion, lucid dreaming and many kinds of techniques go hand-in-hand. Basically, you are only limited by your imagination!

An area that is practically custom-made for lucid dreaming is Spirit Guide work!

Lucid dreaming is a good way to contact your guides if you have not worked with them before. It is often been said that your guides will not directly contact you without permission. They may send dreams to you as a way to give you some pertinent information without directly contacting with you.

For those of you who regularly do guide work, it is another avenue if you have difficulty in fitting in meditation time during the day.

With lucid dreaming, you can interact with them and have a conversation with your guide during the dream. If some information you are being given is too cryptic you can ask for a clearer meaning.

One of my best experiences with using lucid dreaming and guide work was when I literally just sat down with my guide and had a talk. We discussed many things, and it felt just like a conversation I might be having with a best friend. No big earth-shattering revelations, just a practical exchange of thoughts and ideas.

One method is to tell yourself before going to sleep that you wish to have a dream where you contact your Guide(s), and that you will be lucid during that dream.

Another method is to work with your first dream of your sleep period. Allow yourself to drift off to sleep, but keep reminding yourself that you are aware. As you drift off to sleep, say to yourself mentally: "I call forth my Spirit Guide who will come in the light and with truth and love".

Allow your thoughts to form independently, don't try to force them. If you find yourself thinking of really unrelated things (perhaps your laundry or bills to pay) then gently bring yourself back into focus by stating your desire and intention to meet your Spirit Guide. You may have to repeat the above phrase and remind yourself that you are aware.

I add the "who will come in the light and with truth and love" part to the statement to make sure that the source I connect with is a true spirit guide. Some people fear contacting an evil spirit or unsavory entity.

When meeting a guide for the first time, I always ask, "are you are my true Spirit Guide?" Some people go further and ask questions like: Who are you? Are you here in my best interests? Do you mean me any harm? A true Spirit Guide will not mind being challenged!

Once you have ascertained that you have contacted a true Spirit Guide start a conversation. Ask questions. Share thoughts and ideas. It is quite an experience!
